Rubén del Pozo (DVM, PhD, Diplomate ECPHM) was born in Segovia, Spain. He grew up in the family pig farm, where he realized that swine was his passion. He studied at Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at University of León (Spain) and Faculté de Médecine Vétérinaire at University of Liège (Belgium). He qualified in 2007 and initially worked for 2 years as swine practitioner in Spain.
In 2009, he decided to broaden his field expertise and moved to Belgium. He worked as practitioner for Ghent University at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and followed both an Internship and a Residency program for the European College of Porcine Health Management (ECPHM) under the supervision of Prof. Dominiek Maes and Prof. Freddy Haesebrouck. His interest in research led him to defend his PhD in 2014, which was entitled “Treatment and control of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae infections”. In 2015, he became EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Porcine Health Management by examination under the ECPHM. Since 2014, he is part of the technical team within MSD Animal Health, working in different roles, first as Farm consultant for MSD Animal Health Belgium, and then from 2019 to 2022 as a Technical Manager Swine in UK. Currently, he is part of the Global team in MSD Animal Health as EURAM Swine Associate Technical Director. Ruben is the first author and co-author of several scientific articles published in international peer-review journals. His work has been presented during different European and International congresses. His work has taken him to many countries throughout the world including Western and Eastern Europe as well as America and Asia.
