Dr. Sung Woo Kim is William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor at North Carolina State University. Since graduation with the Ph.D. degree from the University of Illinois in 1999, Dr. Sung Woo Kim has developed a world-class and productive research program in monogastric nutrition.  The results of his outstanding research have significantly advanced our knowledge about intestinal health and amino acid nutrition, and functional nutrients in monogastric animals. Dr. Kim is currently a Professor of Nutrition at North Carolina State University. Together with his graduate students, visiting scholars, and collaborators, he has published over 267 peer reviewed papers, 26 book chapters, 76 papers in conference proceedings, 19 popular articles, 305 abstracts, and given over 260 invited talks in 24 countries. His publications have been extensively cited (over 22,300, h-index 79 and i10-index 209 by Sep, 2024, https://g.co/kgs/VZWA9j). Dr. Kim has been serving the animal science community as Associate Editor for Journal of Animal Science, Animal Bioscience, Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology, Animal Nutrition, Frontiers in Veterinary Science, Stress Biology, and Toxins. His research has been supported with over 14 million US dollar grant funding and cash donations educating 23 PhD and 30 master students as the advisor, 13 PhD and 7 master students as the committee member, 41 visiting scientists, and 5 postdoctoral research associates as the supervisor. In recognition of his seminal contributions to swine nutrition, Dr. Kim has received the AFIA Award in Nonruminant Nutrition Research, Early Career Achievement Award, and Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the American Society of Animal Science; The Vernon Young International Award for Amino Acid Research from the American Society of Nutrition; and Outstanding Research Award from the Association of Asian-Australasian Animal Production. He was recognized as University Faculty Scholar by the chancellor of North Carolina State University in 2013 and William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor in 2024.
