Tom Wetzell has been a Swine Veterin Consultant in the US industry for over forty years focusing on herd health population-based medicine to improve production performance. He graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Wetzell was an owner and president of South Central Veterinary Associates, a veterinary practice/management company specializing in swine health production. He went on to work as a Senior Professional Service Veterinarian with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health and had direct technical responsibilities for production companies and veterinarians in the upper Midwest USA with over 400,000 sows. Dr Wetzell’s focused areas of expertise includes disease control, herd health risk management, and field applied research trials. He served as Director of Professional Veterinary Services overseeing swine veterinarians at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health and now currently is a swine veterinary consultant. He has received the American Association of Swine Veterinarians Swine Practitioner of the year award and the Swine Technical Service Veterinarian of the year award. For over 25 years he has been part of the At the Meeting podcast group, bringing timely and relevant information to the swine industry.
