Xiangdong Liu holds a Ph.D. in Animal Husbandry and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Veterinary Medicine. He is currently an Associate Professor at the College of Animal Science and Technology, Huazhong Agricultural University, and serves as the President of the Swine Business Division at Guangxi Yangxiang Group. He is also the Deputy Leader of the Pig Industry Standardization Working Group under the National Animal Husbandry Standardization Technical Committee and a permanent researcher at the National Livestock Engineering Technology Research Center. His main research areas include multi-story (building-based) farming models and intelligent farming technologies. Liu has led several major projects, including the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Key Research and Development Program (as the project chief) and projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation. He has received numerous accolades, including the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Invention from Hubei Province in 2016, recognition as one of the "Top 100 'Pig Doctors' Advancing the Swine Industry in the 40 Years of China's Reform and Opening-up" in 2018, selection as an Outstanding Scientific Talent in Guigang City in 2019, and the "Youth Pig Farmer of the Year" award on China's Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Power List in 2023.
