Ascariosis of swine is a parasitic disease caused by ascariasis in the small intestine of pigs. It is a common parasitic disease with wide distribution and great harm. At the Leman China Swine Conference, experts showed that a thorough understanding of the disease characteristics and clinical symptoms of ascariosis of swine, and a scientific diagnosis can not only reduce the incidence of porcine ascariasis, but also reduce the incidence of ascariosis of swine. Moreover, we can reduce the threat of ascariosis of swine to the pig industry in our country, improve the economic benefits of breeding farmers, and promote the healthy and sustainable development of the pig industry in our country.
Epidemic characteristics
Ascariosis of swine is a parasitic disease caused by Ascariosis of roundworm in the small intestine of pigs. It is a widespread parasitic disease that may occur in pigs almost all over the world, with the characteristics of wide distribution and great harm. The main causes of ascariosis of swine are as follows: (1) Ascariosis does not require an intermediate host and has a simple life history. (2) Ascaris are very fertile, laying as many as 100,000 or even millions of eggs at a time. (3) The eggs of roundworms are very resistant to the external environment and chemicals. (4) The level of breeding management of farmers is poor. (5) Swine are infected with Ascariasis after eating feed and drinking water contaminated with Ascariasis eggs. (6) Pigs can become infected with ascariasis after sucking on a sow's breast contaminated with Ascariasis eggs.
Clinical signs and symptoms
The main clinical symptoms of the diseased pigs were diarrhea, malnutrition, gradual deterioration of physique, gradual wasting, poor hair quality and messy hair. Some sick pigs will also show increased body temperature, the highest body temperature up to 42℃, watery stool, prone to lying, unwilling to walk, poor mental state, chewing soil or ring door, reduced feed intake, increased water intake, shortness of breath, and the highest respiratory frequency per minute up to 125 times, vomiting, abdominal pain and other symptoms.
Laboratory diagnosis
Ascariasis is caused by Ascaris lumbricoides. In veterinary laboratories, Ascaris lumbricoides eggs are detected by saturated salt water float method and larvae are detected by Bellman method.
preventive measure
(1) Strengthen nutrition management
(2) Regular deworming
(3) Keep the pig house clean
(4) Introduce healthy pigs
(5) Avoid overcrowding
(6) Strengthen monitoring
(7) Health education
(8) Regular disinfection
(9) Timely isolation and treatment
(10) Establish good feeding management
(11) Do a good job in the management of feed and drinking water
Summary
Ascariasis is a common and high incidence of infectious disease in the process of pig breeding, with a high incidence rate, affecting the growth performance of pigs, seriously affecting the breeding benefits of farmers, and seriously restricting the development of China's pig industry. In the prevention and control of porcine ascariasis, farmers should take "prevention as the main, treatment as the auxiliary", do a good job in the feeding and management of pigs, eliminate the source of infection, and improve the overall disease resistance of pigs.
