Dr. Zhou Rui is currently full professor at College of Veterinary Medicine, Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU), Wuhan, China. He got his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in HZAU in 1993 and 1996 respectively, and DVM in 2003 in the University of Munich, Germany. His research focuses on the animal bacterial infectious diseases caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus parasuis, and Streptococcus suis, etc., and try to understand the epidemiology, genomics and pathogenesis, and development of prevention and control strategies. He serves as the chief scientist of the National Basic Research (“973”) program of China (2012-2016), and the National Key R & D Program of China (2017-2020) in veterinary bacteriology area in the past decade. Several vaccines, diagnostic kits and drugs have been developed, and some of them have already been approved and commercialized.
