Yang Zhen 

DVM

Yang Zhen , DVM, Associate Professor at Nanjing Agricultural University, AVDC committee member. Zhen completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and swine medicine certificate program at University of Minnesota. Zhen has worked in the microbiology team Beijing Genome Center in Shenzhen for a year when he was an undergraduate student at South China Agriculture University. Zhen finished four swine externships in top ten leading swine companies and clinics in the U.S including Smithfield Foods, Seaboard Food, Carthage Veterinary Service and Pipestone Veterinary Service. Zhen competed his full basic and advanced training of dairy medicine and beef cattle medicine at the University of Minnesota. Zhen used to work in VDL UMN as research assistant and gained working experiences in a modern veterinary diagnostic laboratory. He also obtained some poultry experience at Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center at University of Georgia, He was an veterinary intern from Zoetis-ISU swine internship program, trained by Zoetis, UMN and ISU. 

Since September 2020, Zhen has been working in FAO Animal Production and Health division at Headquarter as an animal health intern for African swine fever control, global animal disease surveillance, SARS-CoV-2 update, guideline and assessment. Zhen has joined the College of Veterinary Medicine at Nanjing Agricultural University and started his faculty position in August 2020
